Terms and Conditions

 TERMS AND CONDTIONS

You must read the following terms and conditions before starting your entry. By entering you confirm that you have read, understand and accept the terms and conditions.  Yes it's blah, blah, blah but don't start whinging you didn't know this or that and demand refunds if you skip reading this. Below are some edited highlights but at the bottom of the page are the full Terms and Conditions which you need to read before paying your deposit.

1. Refunds

In the event that the Rally does not run for any reason, you are entitled to a refund of all monies paid less a £10 admin charge per person. Deposits are not refundable, that is because campsite booking deposits are also non-refundable. If you have booked non-sharing accommodation it is subject to availability and we cannot guarantee to be able to provide this at every venue. We will refund the cost difference if you accept a share or the entire accommodation cost if you find accommodation elsewhere. Otherwise we will not pay refunds on accommodation or meals as the campsites will not be paying them. Any issue you have with this should be taken up with the campsite. As stated earlier, your deposit is non refundable. If you do not pay the balance of your entry by the deadline of 31st March 2024 then we will offer your place to someone on the waiting list.

2. Liabilities

You enter the rally entirely at your own risk. The Banger Rally Challenge are simply providing you with a route and access to accommodation. We will not accept any liability for any damage, accident or incident during the rally. The minimum age for any team member on the rally is 18 years but the Team Captain must be over 21. You will take responsibility for your personal safety and legal compliance. We will not ask you if your car is taxed and insured. There will be a bar on site every evening, but we will not monitor how much you drink or if you are legal to drive in the morning. We will post links from time to time referring to European driving regulations but they do not constitute advice and are not a comprehensive list of your legal duties. If you get arrested or your car is confiscated, which is always a laugh ( for the rest of us ) we will, of course, assist where we can but you should have read the local rules. We will be setting challenges along the way. If you feel that a challenge is hazardous, don’t do it; none of them are compulsory. Some may involve eating a local delicacy (no one who was there can forget the mustard challenge in Dijon), but we won’t be giving allergen advice. Lastly, if you break you pay for it. Damages to property or fines for leaving a chalet dirty are your responsibility, not ours and you will have to pay them before you leave the campsite.

3. Behaviour

Please bear in mind we may be running a rally next year too. We often return to campsites on our way, whether or not we are welcome rests entirely on how we behave. By all means, drink, sing dance and get up to high jinks but do not damage property, vehicles or start a roaring contest at 3am. Be respectful of other guests onsite. Drive legally and safely. It is illegal to road race anywhere in Europe.

4. Respect

By all means, have fun. Stick stickers on other people's cars, cling film them, spray them with water pistols, but don’t deface or disable another rallier’s car and so end their rally. And do respect the enormous time and effort that has been put into their vehicles. Please treat your Team Leader with respect, they can normally be bribed with beer. However their decisions on marking your challenges are final.

5. Scrutineering

To qualify as a banger, your car must be considered to be in the spirit of the rally, at least 15 years old or less than £1000, if not, you will not be eligible for any of the prizes.

6. Charity

You would like to know the name of your charity on entry.  We will ask you at check-in at the start how much you have raised. Please do some fundraising just raising £400 per car between now and September will mean this rally will raise £30,000. We can help set up your JustGiving page and promote it for you. We will be posting ideas on how to do this on the website and Facebook. If you don't have a charity to support you can fundraise or donate to our JustGiving page in support of Cornish Charities

7. Rights Reserved

The Banger Rally Challenge reserves the right to give a final decision on any breach of the rules of the rally, or our terms and conditions. They also reserve the right to require your team to leave the rally for serious breach of same. Likewise the decisions of points awarded by Team Leaders is final. The Prizes and Trophies awarded by the Rally Team are also a final decision. Please remember it is all just for fun.
